Here's How to Beat Acid Reflux the Holistic Way!
There can be several factors as to why you suffer from acid reflux.  The most common are: 
  • too much abdominal fat or pregnant
  • over the age of 50
  • eating until overly full too close to bedtime
  • food sensitivities or improper food combining
What I did to cure myself without relying on antacids or other products:
  1. Drink water with the juice of half a lemon before meals. Or, if you don't mind the taste, you can add some apple cider vinegar to your water.  This promotes the production of stomach acid ensuring that there is enough to break down the food in your meal.
  2. Don't overeat too close to bedtime.  Allow at least 2 hours between your last meal and bedtime. This gives your stomach a chance to clear out the food before you lay down.
  3. Elevate the head of your bed.  You want to make sure that your upper body is at least 3 or 4 inches higher than your abdomen.  If acid reflux is chronic (every night), consider putting some books under the headboard legs until the reflux stops occurring. 
  4. Improper food combining - If you eat a meal with a combination of animal protein and complex carbohydrates and/or save your fresh fruit for dessert you could be in for a rough night. Digestion time for a meat and potatoes type of meal takes at least 3-4 hours to break down in the stomach. This is another reason I became plant-based. So, if you are a meat eater, plan to have your last meal of the day 4 hours before bedtime to ensure that the food has left the stomach.
  5. Do not drink too much during meals.  This dilutes the stomach acid and slows down the process.
  6.
